Alexandra Parry

I am a socially engaged artist with a long-term interest in how things form communities. I have a history of working in public spaces, creating events and objects that encourage collective experiences. Engaging with the politics of UK land ownership post 80s and 90s Conservative party led Public Order Acts, with a political history stemming back to the Enclosure Acts, much of my earlier work was focused on how to create communality and decentralised organising in public spaces. This involved creating large permanent dinner tables that could seat over 20 people in ‘public’ spaces, being part of collectively run projects such as The Treehouse Gallery in Regents Park that housed a public library about land and environmental issues…

Ceyda Oskay

Ceyda Oskay is currently based in Istanbul. She has studied in London, Chicago, and Cape Town, and spent significant time in Kuwait and other parts of the Middle East. She is a visual artist who works across media, collaborating with people, places, and materials. Her textile, print, ceramics, painting, sculpture, and installation work are often around themes of migration, exchange, and transformation.

Her work has moved from being about war (having been an aid worker for over ten years, as well as having experienced forced-migration), to being about bringing people together, mostly through socially engaged practice. Though researched, her artwork is often an intuitive response to places and situations. Her artwork also includes making Talisman T-shirts…

Claudia Böse

Claudia is drawn to regions which are borderlands, geographically and psychologically and have been rendered throughout history by artists. Her work is process driven and deeply shaped by its relationship to daily life, a passion for history and art made by women.

Claudia talks about her process; ‘When I get going, there is a certain energy, and impulse within me and picking up from the residues of leftovers from previous sessions, remnants that I have been living with since. One of the main ingredients that informs my decisions seems to be reacting to impulse to distil and repair something. Even though I don’t know what that is.’  (From Obscure Secure, exhibition catalogue, in conversation with Hayley Field and Jacqueline Utley, 2014.)…extract from https://www.contemporarybritishpainting.com/claudia-bose-artist-of-the-month/
